Raffles Hotels International which has made a name for itself in being one of the leading hotel brands in the world has recently launched its latest venture in Olympia, Greece. Named as the Raffles Olympia Resort, it is fitting that the historic Greek city of Olympia is in such close proximity as Raffles made its mark on the hospitality field by upgrading and restoring historical buildings and converting them into resort hotels.
Olympia was a sanctuary in Ancient Greece that is best known for hosting the Ancient Olympic Games. The sanctuary which is referred to as Altis consists of an unordered series of buildings. Inside the complex it is possible to find the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Zeus the two most powerful gods in Greek culture. The most famous monument in Olympia is also dedicated to Zeus, the huge ivory and gold statue of Zeus that used to stand here was also included in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Unlike most Raffles hotels, the Raffles Olympia Resort is a brand new construction; however it incorporates elements of Greek architecture to keep in with its historical location. The resort has been planned in the style of a village featuring singe and two-storey villas equipped with the latest amenities. The resort also includes the RafflesAmrita Spa range, tennis courts and a range of dining options.
